Notes

Joined the NER on 14 June 1910 as an engineman of the steam tug Hercules at Hull. He was a first class stoker in the Royal Naval Reserve and on the outbreak of war was attached to the Hood Battalion, Royal Naval Division. He was with the Naval Brigade which attempted to save Antwerp in September 1914 and narrowly escaped capture. His unit was ordered to the Dardanelles in early 1915 and here he received wounds from which he later died. NER Magazine states date of death as 16 June.
