Notes

Born in 1897 in Langholm, the son of William and Isabella (nee Douglas) Thomson of 11 Charles Street<br />(Old), Langholm. Robert was living at 289 Broad Street,Cowdenbeath, Fife when he enlisted in Dunfermline in November 1915. He was posted to the Army<br />Reserve but as the North British Railway Company's Goods Manager considered his work at Inverkeithing Station of importance, it was not until November 1917 that he was mobilised as Private (S/24216) in the Seaforth Highlanders. He was posted to the 7th Battalion in France in March 1918 but was transferred to the 10th Battalion Argylls. Robert was wounded in action died while being moved to a base hospital in Rouen.
