Aged 37, husband of Annie Rawling of 62 Russell Street, Scarcroft Road. Formerly of the Durham Light Infantry. He worked for the North Eastern Railway for 24 years before enlisting, and was killed by shrapnel in December 1917. Further information given by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission website, states that he was originally with the 38th Labour Company of the Durham Light Infantry, with the service number "67083."
