Aged 35, son of Hannan and Louisa Place; husband of Margaret J Place of 3 Hawthorn Terrace, Durham. Born at Shildon. He had been a sergeant in the Territorials before the War. He went to Salonica in August 1917, returning to England in January. He died from malaria before being demobilised. <br /><br />Magazine gives rank as Regimental QMS
