Aet 33, the son of James and Mary-Ann of Maxwelltown and thehusband (widower) of Catherine (married in Glencairn in 1907. Catherine died of tuberculosis in 1912. They had a son James. Andrew enisted in Sept 1914 and was sent to Boulogne in January 1915. He was wounded in the battle of Loos in September 1915 and was repatriated. He returned to France in Dec 1915 and was killed in action om 30 June 1916. He is mentioned by name on the Maxwelltown burgh memorial, the Troqueer parish mamorial, the Laurieknowe school memorial and the Glasgow roll of honour.
