Aged 32, Hutchinson was formerly a goods porter at Hull. He had been a member of the Bridlington Territorials and went to the Front in 1915. He left the Army as a time-expired man in 1916, but was called back again. He was killed in action in France. His brother Private A.L. Hutchinson was killed in action in 1918. Three other brothers also served in the war.
