Age 36, husband of B Hackney of High Fold, Glasshouses, Pateley Bridge. Died from wounds received on 2 May 1917. Joined the NER as a renewal platelayer at Starbeck, and later transferred to the position of lengthman at Pannal where he remained until enlisting in January 1915. He had been a member of volunteer and territorial forces for some years.
