Age 19, the second son of Samuel & Hannah Goodwin of 220 Wherstead Rd, Stoke, Clare [Ipswich] Suffolk. Joined the GER in October 1912 as a parcels van lad. Later employed at the East Suffolk signalbox, Ipswich. He resigned in March 1915 to join the Navy. He died when his cargo ship the Manchuria was torpedoed in the Atlantic by German submarine U-53.
