Age 24, son of Eleanor Douglass of Close House, Bishop Auckland and the late John Thomas Douglass. Had worked for the NER for nine years. Joined the RNVR as a wireless telegraphist in March 1916. He had three brothers all serving in the Forces. Douglass was lost when his vessel, a Q ship previously known as Glenfoyle, was sunk in the Atlantic by submarine U43.
