Notes

Age 22, son of Miles and Isabella Carrick of Haltwhistle. Joined the NER in June 1908 as a gangboy, and was appointed platelayer at Haltwhistle in July 1913. Called up in August 1914. At the time his regiment was to leave for France he suffered a rupture which required surgery. An operation was performed at Newcastle Royal Infirmary on 12 May 1915 but he died the following night.
