Notes
Brown had worked for the North Eastern Railway for five years, working at Middlesbrough and Haverton Hill, before he enlisted in January 1916. He also served with the Yorkshire Regiment and the Northumberland Fusiliers, before transferring to the Durham Light Infantry. Brown was killed in action.
