Age 25, the son of Mrs Elizabeth Ashmore of Thorngate, Barnard Castle; husband of Beatrice Croom (Formerly Ashmore) of Bridgegate, Barnard Castle, Co Durham. Worked at the NER quarry at Hulands, Bowes from April 1913 until the outbreak of war. Killed in action.
