Age 21, the son of Sgt. William McAdam of Stewartry Constabulary and his wife Elizabeth. He enlisted in June 1916 and was sent to France with his battalion. He was wounded an repatriated to the UK. He returned to France in June 1917 and was killed in action on 1st August 1918. He is named on the Kirkudbright war memorial, on the St Cuthbert's church war memorial in Kirkudbright, on the Kirkudbright & Troqueer parish war memorial, and on the Laurieknowe church war memorial now in Troqueer parish church.
