Notes

Best was born in Camberwell, London on 5 August 1877. He worked for the LBSCR from 1911. He enlisted in December 1915 and while on active service was wounded by shrapnel and taken prisoner. He was held at Soldau POW camp. Best died in Hammersmith in 1920, probably as a result of his wounds.
