Notes

Age 23, the son of David & Mary Bye of Cave Hall, Wyddiall, near Buntingford, Herts. Born in Anstey, Herts. (GER Magazine gives his age as 25 which would correct given his birth year of 1893 according to the 1911 Census, but this assumes he died in 1918 rather than 1916). Worked for the GER for over 5 years. Enlisted on 5 September 1914, reported as killed in action.
