Age 58, husband of Margaret Booth of 10 Dover St, West Hartlepool (see also Edward Booth). Booth joined the NER as an engineer in 1871 and as made first engineer in 1900. 'He was an old and trusted servant'. The Char sank with all hands in the English Channel when it collided with a cargo steamer which was being inspected. Note that the NER Magazine has incorrectly captioned the photo as Mr E Booth.
