Age 21, son of William Farrow Atkinson of 4 Milton Street, Eastbourne, Darlington. Joined the NER on 1 January 1908 as an apprentice mechanic in the Telegraph Department, North Road Station, Darlington. As a member of the DArlington Territorials for some years he was attached to the 5th Battalion, Durham Light Infantry at the outbreak of war. He was killed in action at Ypres.
